MARK TAYLOR - MUSICAL DIRECTOR

 

Mark Taylor is one of Australia's most versatile and accomplished saxophone and woodwind artists. 
Born in Bathurst in country NSW, Mark moved to Sydney in 1988 to study at The NSW Conservatorium of Music under Australian Jazz maestro Don Burrows.


Since graduating Mark has carved out a distinguished and versatile career, recording, touring and performing nationally and internationally alongside the elite of the music industry. Marks numerous Australian musical theatre appearances include the orchestras for The Boy From Oz, West Side Story, The Phantom of The Opera, Hot Shoe Shuffle, The Producers, Dirty Dancing, Saturday Night Fever, Shout, Dusty, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Billy Elliot The Musical, Guys and Dolls and Chicago.


He has featured in concert or on recordings with such leading Australian performers as John Farnham, Hugh Jackman, James Morrison, David Campbell, Tom Burlinson, Marcia Hines, Human Nature, Glen Shorrock, Guy Sebastian, Tommy Tycho, Caroline O'Connor, Anthony Warlow and the Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.


Mark is a member of the award winning Sydney All Star Big Band. He also appears frequently alongside jazz virtuoso James Morrison and has featured on four of Morrison's album releases.


Since 2003, Mark has regularly appeared performing in the live studio bandfor the Network 10 TV series Australian Idol.
Mark is thrilled to be Musical Director for Wayne Scott Kermond and Candy Man. This show mark's his debut as a MD/Band Leader for a touring theatrical production.
